The beat of the music blasted into the night outside the club. It seemed to huge compared to her, the endless stream of music coming from inside the walls seemed to overwhelm her, even when she was protected from its raw power. And she loved it!
The brunette wore a green and pink corsette looking shirt, that was extremely form fitting around her waist and bust, it was cut low, but not low enough to see anything. She had a chain connecting to the back and running around the the front, then tracing down to her baggy, khaki, parachute pants. Her white shoes had one green lace and one pink lace.
Her wavy hair fluttered out of her sideways trucker hat like a fine silk sheet, and her green eyes blinked as she entered the club. She did not even have to show ID. She thanked god silently for that. She peered around the crowded dark room. Where the hell do I start in a mass like this?! She thought to herself. With a deep breath she pushed into the crowd, asking a few people here and there, "Do you know the owner?" She asked them. And they all either ignored her or told her no. She finally made it through the dancefloor to the bar. I've never been to a real bar before. She smiled to herself at the fact.
She turned and peered around the room. "Who the hell would be the owner of this place?" She asked out loud, loud enough for the people around her to hear...

Things were going wonderfully for Talan. His club was extremely successful and his love life was coming together. He couldn’t remember a time he had been so happy as Destiny made him. They had been dating nearly a month now and they saw each other almost everyday. Things seemed to be moving pretty fast, but he didn’t care. He was falling for her more and more. Then there were her three little angels that he just adored. He couldn’t believe the father wouldn’t stick around. They were so precious and sweet. He found Destiny to be even more amazing that she had children as young as she had, still finished school, and was taking care of them as a single mother while still having a good job. Well, she wasn’t single anymore. She was his girl.
Talan wore a black body t-shirt and dark blue jeans with his black boots. According to club rules, everybody was to wear collared shirts, but he was the owner and could wear whatever he wanted. Normally, he didn’t do that sort of thing, and he always stuck to his own rules. Tonight, however, he just really didn’t feel like wearing that. He was in a wonderfully good mood too, all thanks to his girlfriend. He hadn’t seen her yet that day, but he would see her later that night. He was always thinking about her and never got tired of being around her. He had some romantic things planned for her too. Life was just very good for him right now.
Currently, he was at the bar, bartending. Why you ask? Well, he likes to bartend. He had done his share of bartending in his time, loved to socialize, and he was very good at. He had his workers and he didn’t need to be helping, he just was because it was something to do. He saw the young girl approach and was thoroughly disappointed in one of his bouncers. He could tell she was underage and she shouldn’t be there. Well, she could have been old enough for the club. Maybe. He’d find out. He watched her turn at the counter and heard her words asking for the owner. At that, he wondered who she was.
Leaning forward and folding his arms on the counter, he looked at her and asked, “Who’s asking?”

Her thoughts were cut short, a bartender by the looks of it had heard her question. "Who's asking?" he has said. She tugged at a brunette strand of hair as she looked at the guy. She couldnt help but smile a little. "Um." She started then cleared her throat. "Im Jacky." She extended a hand.
"I was actually looking for the owner, could you point me in the general direction?" She asked. God, he is so cute. she thought. "I would appreciate it." She said and bit her lip.
The music changed to a slower more layed back beat. She didnt move, but she really felt like dancing. Her green eyes traced around the room, avoiding the flashing lights, before landing back on the guy infront of her. She waited akwardly for him to speak.
[sorry its so short ... no muse today]

As she turned to him and extended her hand he listened to her reply as he took her hand in his with a polite shake. Jacky Tillman. Never heard of her. He wondered what she wanted with him since they didn’t know each other, obviously, and since he couldn’t recall hearing her name anywhere, he was just curious. It was strange, but he felt a natural protectiveness over her. She somehow reminded him of his sister.
As he thought of Kiara, he smiled. She was a special young lady and he missed her greatly. This Jacky girl really shouldn’t be in a club. Well, his club was ok because they kept things running real smooth. He didn’t let people get out of hand, and on the rare occasion that it did happen, it was taken care of immediately. So, perhaps it was better that she was at his club, rather than some other club. Nodding to her, he said, “He’ll be right with you. Just wait right here.”
He finished up with some drinks for some customers, gave his hands a nice rinse to get the alcohol off, and moved from behind the counter. He walked over to her casually enough. “Nice to meet you Jacky, I’m Talan. The owner,” he said extending his hand once more, “What brings you to my club and how may I help you?”

The girl waited there silently watching the people dance, as she waited for the owner. She mouthed along with the popular usher beat. Popular ... but a bit tired. She thought sarcastically. And as she let this thought go she noticed the cute bartender coming back to her. Omygod! She squeaked inside her brain. Her face turned up to him as he closed his ground.
She almost bust out laughing when he said that he was, infact, the owner. "Well." She said with a big smile. "Since you are the owner now, and not just a bartender..." She trailed off then picked up her subject again, "I was wondering if you could take a look at this?" She handed him a CD case. "Its a DVD. Of me singing last year." She shrugged. "Its an old SWV joint from way back in the day." She said with a smirk. "I sang it in my school talent show. And I wanted to see if I could perform here one night?" She asked hopefully. "I know I am not eighteen yet, but in a few months I will be." She said after the fact.
Her mind raced. Would he let her? Ugh, she hated waiting for people to say something. If only she could know everything. Please, please, please ... She thought as she laced her fingers together and raised her clasping hands to her mouth in a nonchalant plea.

Raising an eyebrow as she spoke and handed him a CD case, he listened to her. There were people who came in here every now and then who would do something like that. Request to play at his club. More often than not, they were turned down as politely as possible. Every now and then though, someone came along who thoroughly impressed him and he would do his best to help them out. His gaze returned fro the CD case to her eyes and he said, “Well, I have to watch it first of course, but if I like what I hear and such, then yeah, I am sure we can work something out. If you’d like, we could go to my office and I could check it out right now. Or you could wait here if you’d like, but you better stay put if you do. Either way, I could take a look right now for you.”
Talan never turned people away when they wanted him to see or hear their stuff. Yeah, it could get tiring, people always trying to bug you to help them get into the entertainment business, but he never let it get to him. These were people’s dreams and it was very important to them. Besides, what if ignored somebody to one day turn on the radio and hear their song. He would definitely end up mentally kicking himself in the ass. So, he always took what they gave, and he always checked their stuff out.
He was no expert or anything, but he was a good enough judge of things to pick out talent. Not just with music either. Models as well. Actually, he could have be a model. He’d had offers and such, but he had declined, probably mostly out of fear. The last thing he needed was for people back in Georgia to see him an decide to come for him. It was mighty tempting though. He rather enjoyed the entertainment world, but it was a cutthroat business and not for the faint hearted.
He turned to head to his office, leaving it up to her to follow. He wouldn’t blame her for waiting out there. Stronger, older male offering for her to go back into a room alone with him. Yeah, that could be a little strange to some, hence why he had left it up to her. There was nothing indicative in his demeanor that said he intended to do more that check out her DVD, but still. People could be deceiving and he wouldn’t take it personal if she stayed behind, though he didn‘t like leaving her in the club. There was still the protectiveness he felt over her. There was no reason for her to trust him.
Opening the door leading to his office, he looked back to see if she had followed, and allowed her in first if she had. He closed the door behind him and went to his desk, plopping into his comfortable leather swivel chair. “You can sit if you like,” he told her, motioning to the two comfortable seats across from him in front of his desk. He placed the disk into his computer and turned up the volume as he watching the DVD. He didn‘t let anything show on his face and just watched it, taking it all in.

[performance]
Now? She asked herself after the words escaped his lips. He wants to watch it now? She took a deep breath and nodded her head, but he had already begun walking away. She stutter-stepped, debating on what to do. Should she go? Jacky took charge and put one foot infront of the other. Her hair bounced as she followed him into the office.
The office was nice, and decorated accordingly. She looked at the swivel chair before sitting down. Her cushion hit the cushion and the only thing she could think was ... Ah. This chair is NICE! And as he placed the DVD into his computer she bit her lip in anticipation. The song had been something she had never really sang over a microphone before, and she was really scared that the tape would show it.
As she watched herself she was actually impressed with herself. There were a few scratchy spots when her voice became a little dry and raspy, but other than that is was a good performance. She looked over at Talan every once in a while ... just trying to read his blank expression. It was not looking good .... At least from where she was sitting.
At the end of the video her heart fluttered at her rifts over the song. It had been the most awesome feeling to sing with that much power. She smirked a little then whiped it away, she did not want to be cocky or anything. She was just proud of herself. And as the DVD came to an end after her performance ... she turned to look at him, expectantly. "So?"

Watching the DVD, Talan had to admit, she had a great deal of talent. Of course he noticed some part where there was a rasp in her voice and whatnot, but that often happened with the best of artists in the business. It was a live performance. There was reason he kept his face neutral, and that was simply because he didn’t want to get her hopes up when he hadn’t even heard her stuff yet. As the DVD ended though, he knew she had something. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out. If Brittany Spears could make with her not so pretty voice, Jacky certainly could. Talan was quite blown away really. This was a young girl who was unpolished and she had an amazing voice. It was what she could become that had him blown away. With the polishing she would get from whatever agent signed her, she would become famous. There was no doubt in Talan’s mind.
“So… Do you write your own stuff,” he asked curiously, still not giving anything away and loking her in the eyes, “Or do you have somebody else write it? And what other performance experience do you have?” Whether she wrote her own stuff was really irrelevant, but he was interested to know. The performances was important. She would be playing in front of a lot of people at his club and he needed to know she was ready for that. He waited for her answers and leaned back in his chair with one hand resting on his desk, and the other twirling his pen in his fingers with his elbow rested on the arm of the chair. He had already decided to have her play at his club one night, and if that went well, he would ask her to play at his club regularly.

Jacky's face seemed to show her relief that he was not going to say it was horrible. "Um." She started. "I actually do write my own stuff." She said. "I have almost a whole spiral full of lyrics and stuff." She said. Her heart was racing. "I dont really know where the lyrics come from either, they are just something I think that other girls would say." She said. "Because they are mostly about love. Which I have never had." She said hesitantly. How embarassing!
Jacky leaned forward and shrugged. "Not much. I sang in my church choir a little." She said. "Oh!" She remembered. "I sang the national anthem at nascar." She smiled. "That was the biggest thing I have ever done!" She said. "There were ungodly ammounts of people." She said. "But I only got to do it because my dad's friend was kinda incharge and Raven Symone backed out at the last second." She said proudly.
She blinked before asking ... "So. Was it good?" She wanted to hear him say it out loud.

He listened to her and couldn’t help but still feel that protective feeling over her. She definitely had what it took to be a singer. There was no doubt whatsoever in Talan’s mind. Somehow, she reminded him of his sister. Maybe it was the innocence factor. He wasn’t sure, but he could tell they would be great friends. These were hopes and dreams and he was about to help her as best he could to make them come true. There was something very special about seeing that moment when a person realizes all of their dreams have come true. He knew she would have that moment, and he hoped he could witness it. It would be great knowing that he had helped, but really, it would be all on her. She was going for what she wanted, and he admired that.
She asked if it was good and he took the DVD out and placed it back in the case before turning the screen back to it’s original position. He stood and walked around the desk, leaning against it and folding his arms against his chest. He look at her and finally let his face show what he was thinking, “It was better than good,” he told her honestly, “I must say I am more than impressed. I would be a fool to turn you down. Why don’t you come by during the week in the daytime before the club is open and you can get used to the stage and all that. Plus, the band will need to learn the music, unless you already have one. Then you can play on Friday. That’s a huge thing. Fridays get one of the biggest crowds. Are you ready for that?” He looked at her quizzically.
He was already planning on getting in contact with LA Records. He knew some people and with the right persuasion, he could get somebody to come check her out. That, of course, he kept to himself. He didn’t want to get her hopes up just to have them crushed. He would have an agent come and check her out. If the agent told Talan she had something and he’d like to sign her, then Talan would introduce them. Only after he was sure the agent was serious. I guess you could say he was sort of acting as her manager for now.
“Mind if I keep this?” he asked with a raised eyebrow, holding up the case.
