Do you remember those days when your mother or father used to sing you lullabies to make you fall asleep, or just to comfort you? Those were the days, I suppose. Zoink’s mother had been a nice one, he knew that much. She had always sung him lullabies to make him fall asleep. However, she stopped when he was about 5 or so. Zoink had told her he was a big kid, and he didn’t need lullabies.
He wished now he hadn’t said that. He wanted someone to sing to him, to comfort him. His chest felt heavy. He felt like crying. His life had been going great in L.A. until this whole thing. He wanted Sydney terribly- with all his heart and might. He felt like throwing himself into the waves of the ocean as he approached the water. He rolled up his jeans to his ankles. The water brushed up against his ankle. It sent chills through his body. He shivered.
The beach was beautiful at this time of year. It wasn’t too hot or too cold. His shoved his knuckles into the pockets of his hoodie. He looked down, the hood on his head. Why did she have to change? The whole thing could have worked out quite well if she hadn’t changed. What had gone wrong while she was gone? Zoink’s mind filled up with unanswered questions that he wanted answered. They were best friends, right? She could tell him what went wrong.
His toes sunk in the sand as another wave came in. He rolled up his pant leg a bit farther. He took a few steps forward. His hair hung out in front of his eyes. He had green, almost fluorescent eyes, but they were usually covered with a jungle of hair.
Sydney was gorgeous, he knew that much. She had beautiful, brown locks that would bounce up and down when she walked. And her eyes- oh, her eyes- probably her best feature besides her perfect lips. Oh, he did wish to kiss those lips so much at the moment. All he wanted now was to see Sydney. He just wanted to see Sydney and talk things over.
It seemed so long since he had last run into her at the park, when it was really only a week ago. He had called her to meet him here. But, perhaps she didn’t want to ever see him again, which is why she hadn’t showed up yet.

It had been late when she had got into the house, all three of the girls were all sat around the TV with takeaways on their lap and watching a movie that was showing on the TV. Sydney had been out on one of her little 'dates' with a client. Sophie turned and saw her and she grinned, "Hey babe, how'd it go? You got us some dosh right?....Oh, someone phoned, Zoink or something, wants you to meet him at the beach, like, in, oh shit, like now..." All Sydney did was listen, and she just smiled and she took the money from the inside pocket of her coat and she handed it to Sophie. "Three hundred and ninety." She said, her smile weak. Sex for money, to support your friends and yourself. Her friends were her family. These three girls were beautiful and like her sisters, they did everything to help each other out, even stepping into prostituation. Sydney turned around and she took her high heeled shoes off, slipping her feet into some black, shiney small ballerina style shoes. She wore nothing and then a short skirt, then her coat. At least she'd just look like she was having just feeling good, but her top underneath looked very slutty, but she had her coat zipped up and she headed out of the house. She owed it to him to go, after walking away from him and leaving him stood there in the park. Zoink was special to her, she'd known him all her life, but over the past four years she'd changed, he hadn't changed at all, but she was a different person now. He'd have found that out, there was such a huge change. He didn't know what she did for a job, he would probably hate it. But she didn't care anymore. She felt like she had no emotion. The walk to the beach seemed to take forever. Her thoughts and her mind was all over the place. But she soon saw a figure down at the ocean front. The darkness had set in. She pulled her coat up around her neck as the chilly ocean breeze wafted up the beach and she tucked her hands into her pockets and walked down the beach. Head down, embarrased and ashamed but to also to see where she was going. Soon his back faced her and she sighed. "What do you want Zoink?" SHe asked him. She was so cold, so hard and so different. She'd gone from a warm, bubbley sweet and innocent girl to a cold, withdrawn hard faced whore. Some people are just not the people we think they are. [ooc: sorry, distracted by a film ]

Love is such a beautiful thing. But it can also be a terrible thing, none the less. At this point, love was a terrible thing. Love is what had caused everything to go wrong. Perhaps Sydney hated him now? What was he to do? Her voice sent chills up his spine. Her voice was cold, like she didn’t want to be there. Zoink felt like just curling up into a ball and dying. “Sydney...” his voice fell. He reached for her hand. His finger clutched to her hand. He couldn’t let go- even if Sydney fought back. “Sydney…look, I love you. I love you… love you so much.” He chocked out. He had never told anyone that he loved them with such meaning. Sure, he had told his mom that he loved her and all, but it wasn’t as deep as this.
He took a deep breath. He continued to grip onto Sydney’s hand. “What happened? Why are you so different? Tell me Sydney, please.” He tried to coax her into saying what had happened. “Remember the good old days? Remember when we told each other everything? Remember, Sydney? Remember?!” his voice rose up a bit. “Let those days come back. Just…tell me what’s wrong.” he said. Something had gone wrong while Sydney was gone. Something had changed Sydney completely. She was once an innocent little creature, and then she had turned into a monster.
Zoink never liked change. So, he liked to stay put. He just couldn’t stand change. Even doing something like changing the color of his room wall made him a bit twitchy. Now, something as big as Sydney changing could drive him crazy. He always tried to stay the same. He never wanted to grow up. He just wanted to go off and stay in Neverland forever, and stay a kid. Perhaps that’s why he’s so immature at some times.
{occ- ick, so, so sorry.}

It was at this time that Sydney realised why Zoink used to sometimes, and often piss her off. He could be rather self absorbed. About himself, about what he wanted, not what Sydney wanted. Of course she treasured him, he was one of her oldest and most valuable friends and she didn't want to loose him again, but she just figured they had both changed and they had both moved on. It seemed that wasn't the case for him. He was still the same old Zoink he had been four or five years ago, he was like a child trapped in a boys body, he still needed to grow up and experience life experiences for himself, it would help him mature.
It was a natural instinct for her to step back as someone stepped closer. She did so as he did and she frowned, her brows furrowing together and she withdrew her hands, and when he didn't realise her grip she pulled them sharply so they did indeed free and she pushed them into her pockets and she turned, herself side on to him and she watched him out of the corner of her eye, her face cast in a shadow as she glared at him. He always had been nosey, always had wanted to know everything. He just had to admit to the fact he wouldn't know her like he had done and she was a completely different person. "Zoink, i grew up!" She told him, in a rather nasty tone as he begged her to tell him, tried to persuade her into telling him. It would not work.
There was always something there for him, but it was only affection. like affection towards a puppy. It was cute, you couldn't deny it, but that was because of its behaviour. How babyish and immature it was, it could hardly ever be serious but trying to be. She sighed and she bobbed down her head. "Those days have gone, They're in the past. I'm me now. You're you, you haven't changed at all. But i have, i'm not who i used to be." She told him, her weight shifting from one foot to the other, she blinked, her eyes closed for more than a natural blink would actually allow. She turned to him, light cast over her face ever so slightly as she turned her head to the side again. "I'm sorry for leaving and never contacting you, and i'm sorry if you want everything to go back to how it used to. But it cant. I'm not me anymore. Just deal with the fact we were in the past. You're always going to be my bestest bud, but, i just, you know what i mean. I'm not me anymore." She repeated once again. She didn't know what to say to him without scaring him or betraying him. She had changed, that was for certain.
