Screwup, that pretty much summed up Kendra's life in LA thus far.
Her brother had pointed that out to her just a few hours ago. He had also stated that she was still relying on her mom and dad, even at age twenty one. He'd pointed out that she was just like her mother, and she'd end up just like her too. It got to Kendra, and it's what made her end up walking around the park.
Justin, her brother, wasn't always like that. He used to be a fun loving guy, and loved hanging out with his big sister. Then their father got thoughts in his head and made him cold. Of course, her father wasn't like that until a few years after Justin was born. That's when the fighting all started. He'd yell and blame Kendra's mother for everything, and they'd argue back and forth all the time. Kendra, of course, took her mother's side, thinking that her father was out of line to blame her for everything, even though she quit the one thing she loved to stay at home with their two kids. Justin, he'd sided with his father, believing that Mrs. St James didn't do all she could to make them happy.
The two kids didn't aruge about that, though. They tried to keep family issues at bay when it came to them. In fact, they were like best friends. Justin's drinking problem was the only factor that counted against their friendship. Once Kendra had left for college three years ago, he started to go out to get away from the fighting. When he was out, he'd drink, and drunk Justin was a nightmare.
So for three years, Kendra called him at least every three nights to give him a break from the yelling and the parties. Lately, Kendra herself had been going out, so she hadn't called him in a while. Justin had gotten drunker and drunker, and when she called him earlier, he was already a little tipsy. He was mad at their mother, and Kendra had made the mistake of trying to stick up for her, and it got Justin angrier. Somehow, the rape and the job loss had been brought up, and Kendra couldn't handle it anymore. She went out to look for a job, sent out her resume a few places, and then just went out to the park.
Kendra continued to walk, just letting her brother's slightly drunken words sink in. She was a screwup, but she was going to work to fix that, or at least she was going to try.
